Transfer to us

Woman holding a baby

As a foster carer, you have the right to foster with the local provider of your choice, and we welcome existing foster carers to transfer to us, with open arms. If you have already fostered before, our local children will benefit from your experience, and in return, you will be able to access our brilliant local training and support, and receive generous payments and allowances from the Local Authority, as well as Council Tax support or exemptions.

To find out more about fostering with a Local Authority compared to an Independent Fostering Agency, please visit our page below.

Priority Assessment

As an existing or experienced foster carer, we will work to prioritise your assessment as we appreciate that you already have the skills needed to foster and we want to make your transition as seamless as possible!

Supervising Social Worker Allocation

We assign one of our excellent Supervising Social Workers (SSW) to all of our carers, and they will visit you regularly to find out how you’re getting on and see if there’s anything you need! Our SSWs will also be able to signpost you and introduce you to our foster carer community, who meet often, whether this is at our local support groups or at our social committee events, which include school holiday activities for you and the children in your care!

Local training

If there are any areas of training you might need to top up on, we will make sure you can access our local in-person or online training. All of our training and support is local so you never have to stray too far to receive excellent training to be able to provide confident care to local children.

Priority Placement Opportunity

Following your approval to foster with us, we will match you with one of our local children as a priority, As a local authority, we always prioritise matching our children with our in-house carers first, so our carers never go too long with an empty bed!
