We are proud to share that we are offering the Mockingbird Programme as a part of our offer to our foster carers. The Mockingbird Programme is a scheme by The Fostering Network, aiming to replicate the wider family and support network that can sometimes be lacking in a fostering family situation.

Why Mockingbird?
The Mockingbird Programme has been built with support in mind, and aims to tackle a problem that was difficult to navigate before.
At Foster for Plymouth, we have a range of support and training on offer to ensure our foster carers are supported in their roles, but having had feedback from our carers, we knew that for some, they felt there was a gap to be filled by building a wider support network. Many families have a wider family network of aunties, uncles, cousins, grandparents and more that some foster carers feel isn’t the case for them. With this in mind, we have initiated our first Mockingbird Constellation to tackle this problem.
Mockingbird Constellations
The Mockingbird Programme contains one Home Hub household who are experienced foster carers, and around this home, there are a series of other Satellite Carers who are all there to support one another, enjoy social events and can even host ‘Sleepovers’ for the children in each others care!
Not only is this of huge benefit for the carers in the constellation, but it also allows the children and young people to build their networks, meet other children like them, and enjoy a wider family scenario that they may or may not have experienced before!
